Heidi duPont Wins 2014 Andrew K. Dwyer Award

The AKDF Board selected Heidi duPont as the recipient of the 2014 AKDF award. We have been extremely fortunate to have a legion of volunteers help us with Dogg Day and the Foundation. This prize was created in the early years of AKDF to honor a volunteer for outstanding contribution to the Foundation and its mission. The AKDF makes a donation of $1000.00 to a charitable cause of the winner’s choice.

Heidi has been a great friend of the Dwyer family for many years. She has served on the AKDF Committee and has been a dedicated and enthusiastic volunteer taking pictures at Dogg Day, sourcing auction items and encouraging friends to participate and donate.

For the past two Dogg Days, Heidi has spent countless hours putting her artistic skills to work in redesigning our electronic and paper invitations. Heidi’s fabulous program to celebrate our 10th Anniversary of Dogg Day will always serve as a source of inspiration.

2013 and 2014 have been two of the most successful Dogg Days since the inaugural event thanks in no small part to Heidi’s efforts. Congratulations and thank you, Heidi!

Chris Burchfield, Hotchkiss English Teacher and Boys Varsity Lacrosse Coach Wins AKDF 10th Year Award

The AKDF Board decided to present a special award to an individual who has exemplified the spirit of the AKDF over the course of the last ten years.

In 2004 Chris organized and named the alumni lacrosse game in memory of Andrew. The AKDF started a lacrosse program at the East Harlem school for 7th and 8th graders and each spring since 2009, Chris Burchfield and the Hotchkiss Boys Varsity Lacrosse Team have organized a special day at Hotchkiss with a clinic, delicious lunch and exciting lacrosse game.

The AKDF is honored to recognize Chris for his enthusiasm and commitment to Andrew’s family and friends over the last ten years and we know will continue for years to come.
